The City of Harbor Springs Planning Commission is responsible for the management of land use and regulation of building and development in the City. Meetings are held at 5:30 pm on the third Thursday of each month and may be cancelled if there is no actionable item. Meeting agendas and/or cancellations are posted on the City's website and at City Hall.

The Bluff Stability Committee was formed by Council to facilitate discussions between homeowners on Bluff Drive and Third Street about the best practices regarding bluff management to ensure the bluff’s stability. The Committee will report their findings and recommendations to Council.

The Parks Board advises the City Council on all matters connected with the operation, supervision, improvements and maintenance of the parks within the City and the public facilities thereon, for the enjoyment of all citizens. The Board promotes recreation programs and recommends planning and operating policies for City parks.

The DDA has the ability to take action for improvement in the City’s designated downtown district. Meetings are held at 8:00AM on the second Wednesday of each month.

The Redevelopment Ready Communities® (RRC)Program is a state-wide certification program that supports communities to become development ready and competitive in today’s economy. It encourages communities to adopt innovative redevelopment strategies and efficient processes which build confidence among businesses and developers. Through the RRC program, local municipalities receive assistance in establishing a solid foundation for development to occur in their communities – making them more attractive for investments that create places where people want to live, work and play.
